Elisabet Monllor has been dancing since she was four years old. At home, street parties, festivals and celebrations, she took every opportunity to improvise and invent her own fun ways to dance with whatever music was being performed.
Dancing at home became a serious affair- always trying to match her body movement and expression to match the essence of music she listens to and compels her to dance. She started learning Rock ‘n’ Roll and Lindy Hop at the age of 12, which quickly became her favourite partner dances.
At 24 she began teaching in schools of Swing Dance, Funk, Hip Hop, even teaching Flamenco to children. She started the Swing Dance scene in her hometown, Alcoy. She now lives and teaches in Barcelona with 3 schools: Swing Maniacs, Spank the Baby and Osona Swing. Somehow she also finds time to run “Winter Black Swing Festival” in her hometown of Alcoy which had over 400 attendees in 2016.
Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Fancy fell in love with Jazz, Lindy Hop and Shag in 2008. She’s been hooked ever since, devoting herself to the technical mastery of historical dances and her own unique style. She has appeared in music videos, and been on numerous television shows for the US, Mexico and France. She currently lives in Paris, where she teaches swing locally with partner Alex Dreyer. Fancy holds titles in Fast Lindy and Shag. She was nominated for the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame in 2014 and is the four-time Shag champion (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014) of the National Jitterbug Championships with Shag partner Steve Sayer. Be sure to ask her to dance!Video: Shag Camp Hollywood 2011

Since its inception in 2007, the Ballydehob Jazz Festival has grown in stature and standard due to its commitment to a first-rate and varied programme of events. Over the years this off-beat little hamlet has hosted a string of extraordinary musicians and performers that include award-winners, child prodigies, Irish legends and pop stars such as Liane Carroll, Andreas Varady, Paddy Cole, Camille O’Sullivan, Laken Street Dive, Ksenia Parkhatskaya and Meschiya Lake to name-drop but a few. Each May Bank Holiday weekend sees over 40 performances that range from big name concerts to small workshops; from lively pub gigs to intimate side shows and a healthy dose of fringe attractions to compliment.
It is perhaps no wonder that such an amazing event emerged out of this improbable corner of the world. Ballydehob in West Cork has long been a mecca for artists from all over, creating a unique community where the traditional and the alternative sit shoulder to shoulder at the pub counter. In the same way, this festival cozily combines lively swing and dance hall classics with smooth contemporary and hard hitting fusion jazz, culminating in a whole lot of world class talent couched in a pretty little country village.
